Best on the block
My favorite lit-up house in Norwood

I think this does it for the holiday decorations this year. I hope you’re all enjoying the holidays, wherever you are and whoever you’re with.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph!

Maybe it’s just me, but something about the Adoration of the Magi mass produced in illuminated plastic seems half a bubble off. I mean, once upon a time, people devoted years to building Notre Dame and hired Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel. I like to think Jesus has a good sense of humor though, and would just give these a good-natured eye roll to all this attention and return to tending to the disenfranchised. So, enjoy these in that spirit.

Okay, one more inflatable

Perhaps you can make out the shepherd and his sheep following the Santa train. I suppose they might be looking for the manger.

I like that Jesus is propped up for display purposes. No confusion here.

Behold, the Immaculate Germination--of the lawn.

(Okay, I know that reference is to Mary’s birth, but still)

I hope you enjoyed all of these shots.

Inflatables day 2

I was skulking about the neighborhood, trying to get shots of more inflatables. Unfortunately, Santa in the helicopter was not inflated. Sorry, I’m sure you were looking for that one. But fortunately, every night, Sponge Bob leaves his pineapple under the sea to wish you a Merry Christmas!

And Santa does show up in his inflatable train to deliver Christmas cheer.

The best part is that this takes up half the front yard.

This last one is sweet. Who doesn’t love a polar bear in a sweater?

Inflatables day 1

On the next day of Christmas, my true love gave me a couple of inflatables. The snowman is a happy fellow, but the giant Santa, well, I’m not sure what to think. I sure hope you’ve been good this year!

Santa’s wondering, have you been naughty or nice?

Merry Christmas!

Christmas lights light up the night

Several of my neighbors really light it up.

And Happy Holidays! In celebration of the season, I’m posting some shots from around the neighborhood. It’s an interesting mix of decorations here: traditional lights and garlands, old light up Santas and the newer inflatable lawn decorations. I love the older decorations. I’d hate to see those abandoned for the new ones. But the inflatables are interesting in their own right; when your front lawn is only about 20×30, it can be a challenge to fit everything in.

I’m posting at least one shot every day this week, and one special day will be devoted to Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. Or in one case, just a misplaced shepard.
