When I bought my house here in Norwood, I inherited two roses.
“Uh, oh,” I thought. “Roses are difficult.” But they weren’t difficult at all.
This one is a rambling rose. It spreads out, shooting up canes all over the place. Far from being difficult, it’s nearly invasive. Actually, if it wasn’t a rose, it would be invasive. It blooms just once a year, right now, when all the roses start blooming. I wish it would bloom more or longer, because this is simply the most fragrant rose ever.
The other rose is a climbing rose, a pretty red flower, but nowhere near as fragrant. I’ve since added 7 more rose bushes to the yard.
And I’ve noticed how many roses are in Norwood. Check back! I’ll have pictures up of roses in bloom around the Wood, once the weather cooperates.
